Daily Verse

 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. ¹⁵ Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. ¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

"Light of the World"

Have you ever been in a power outage? The first thing you do is look  for a light. Now, since we conviently have our cell phones we use them, but it is only temporary until we can find a flashlight. Without that light, we will stumble around and fall  as we attempt to move from place to place. Or we will just stay in one place because we are afraid to move.

Did you know that we are the world’s flashlight? Most of the world is looking for something to guide them through.  In Matthew 5:14-16 it says: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. ¹⁵ Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. ¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

 During the power outage did you take your flashlight and hide it under a blanket or just carry it and not use it? No, of course not. In a world that is continuously without light we need to let our light shine. Our actions are a light that leads others closer to the Father.  We need not hide them under a blanket or behind a façade. We may be just the thing a person needs to gather up the courage to move or to keep someone from stumbling.  We are the light of the world!
